BMSc, MD candidate (2024)

Téa Sue is a medical student at the University of Ottawa with a particular interest in how diversity within our institutions impacts learners, patient care and satisfaction. Throughout her undergraduate degree, she took part in seminars encouraging her to critically reflect on the perpetuation of biases within institutions and to identify specific avenues for change. Her current work is looking at gender and racial diversity within salient leadership roles in academic medicine in addition to investigating how representative physicians are of the populations they serve. As she moves forward in her medical education, she hopes to work collaboratively with others to highlight the importance and value of equity, diversity and inclusion in facilitating a pluralistic environment within our healthcare system.

We acknowledge that the EqHS Lab is located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishnaabeg. We have the privilege and responsibility to serve First Nations, Métis and Inuit of many backgrounds and from many treaty lands and to demonstrate respect for Indigenous people’s contributions and culture. We also acknowledge traditional knowledge and healing developed over countless generations.
