Sandra Monteiro is an Associate Professor of Medicine at McMaster University, Director of Scholarship at the Centre for Simulation Based Learning, and a Scientist at the McMaster University Faculty of Health Sciences Program for Education Research, Innovation, & Theory (MERIT). She applies a cognitive psychology lens to defining health professions education goals, outcomes and challenges. Using this approach, she has created a 10-year research program on clinical reasoning. Dr. Monteiro also uses her knowledge of measurement and subjective constructs to explore ways to improve competency based assessment.
